Coping with Your Premature Baby Dr Penny Stanway, £4.99. Available at most bookshops. You can also purchase it by mailorder from Little Hampton Book Services at £7.49 inc. p&p (tel: 01903 828800). This book is about having a premature baby in the UK. It is an easy to read and matter of fact guide to looking after yourself and your baby, with information about what to expect and coping. This book has been recommended by several parents who said they found it clear and informative.

Caring for your Premature Baby Alan H.Klein & Jill Alison Ganon. £9.99. Available at the BLISS office. This is an American book about diverse of aspects having a baby in the NICU. It covers issues such as emotional responses to a premature birth, how to become more involved in your baby's care on the neonatal unit, and taking your baby home. It also includes interview/discussions between the authors and parents with babies in NICU. This book would also be appropriate for health care professionals in the field such as nurses, midwives, and health visitors. Please note that this book does relate to American NICU's and some sections, relating specifically to the health care system, or are not relevant in the UK.

 

Your Premature Baby £11.99 (£13.49 inc. p & p) Frank Manqinello & Teresa Foy Di Geronimo This is an American book. Much more up to date than You & Your Premature Baby, but some information only applicable to the US and could be difficult f or a new parent to sift out these aspects.

The Twins Handbook £ 8.99 (£10.50 inc. p & p) Elizabeth Friedrich & Cherry Rowland
Covers most aspects of twins, pregnancy, birth, practicalities of coping with two or more babies, development, starting school, special needs and bereavement.

Family £4.99 (£5.99 inc. p & p) Susan Hill. The author’s moving account of her premature daughter's short life and her own struggle to have another baby.

Pregnancy Loss: Guidance and Support for you and your family
£9.99 (£11.50 inc. p & p) Kohn d Moffitt Comprehensive book covering all types of pregnancy loss. Looks at the effect on the family: how mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents react, effects on future pregnancies and returning to work; medical treatment, types of support.

When a Baby Dies £8.99 (£10.99 inc. p & p) Nancy Kohner & Alix Henley
Emotional and factual aspects of losing a baby through miscarriage, still birth or neonatal death. Parents' stories, medical explanations, subsequent pregnancies.
