He is now 11lb and is 18 weeks or 6 weeks adjusted age. He has given us his first smile today and can roll over. (30 Oct 2001)
Oliver has just turned one. He is now just over 20 pounds and is doing well, the Health Visitor has said she thinks he has caught up to his actual age already. He is starting to take his first steps but still likes the comfort of something to hold onto at the moment even though yesterday he walked across the room on his own. Oliver is still picky about eating but I believe that can be the same for a full term baby I will be glad when I can give him finger food and he will eat it. Oliver is tiring both mum and dad out as the crawling is getting faster and faster and if he can see a gap behind a sofa or in a door way he will be off. (July 2002)

Sean Michael Neal Brydon ( 12th Nov 2000)
29 weeks + 5days weighing only 2lb 3oz
I suffered pre eclampsia from 23 weeks. After spending 6 weeks in hospital I went into liver faliure. Sean was then born by emergency c.section. Sean has had a few problems along the way, but at 20 months old is an absolute star. He had some feeding problems still so he is small in size, but makes up for it all in his personality.

Nicole Nixon 33 weeks (USA)
I had a premature delivery at 20 weeks and the baby did not make it and thought that I could not have any kids and then the Lord blessed me with this pregnancy and then I ran into some trouble at 24 weeks and was put on bed rest for weeks. The doctor told me at 34 weeks I could come off bed rest and do a little more and at 33 weeks my water broke and my baby was ready to be born and I had a c-section my baby was 6lbs 10oz and 19 inches long and she had a little jaundice and was able to come home 9 days later healthy.
Hi, my name is Ella Johnson and I have just been reading the stories about premature babies. I am 23 years old and I was born at 26 weeks gestation weighing 2lb 4oz. My lungs collapsed and I had several blood transfusions. Doctors prepared my parents for the worst. Miracously I survived. Doctors said that I may have learning disabilities, brain damage, sight and hearing problems. Luckily I am a healthy 23 year old with no disabilities or complications. I now have two children of my own. I am hoping to train as a midwife. I would just like to say to other parents who have had prem babies that there is hope.

The smallest baby in the world
Christopher Williams was born, 16 weeks premature, on 17 May 2001 at Whipps Cross hospital in Leytonstone in East London.
He weighed just 603 grams (1lb 5oz) and was small enough to hold in the palm of one hand.
Tiniest two celebrate being one
Twelve months ago Bethany and Martina Laverick had been born with a combined weight of just 2lb 6oz - so tiny they could fit in the palm of a hand.
Each were given only a 15 per cent chance of pulling through but now, after remarkable progress, they have been declared the smallest twins in the world to survive. The twins were born 14 weeks premature, Bethan weighed 1lb 2 ozs and Martina a fraction more at 1lb 4ozs. The twins were not expected to survive the trauma of being born. The previous recorded smallest twins to be born were in Britain in 1931 with a combined weight of 2lb 3oz. It is not thought that they survived.
