I have four children, 3 of which were early. 5 weeks 6 weeks and 10 weeks. Things don't get easier with each child, but harder, my 1st premie was born at 34+6 she was in SCBU for 48hrs and in hospital for 8 days. My second premie was born 6 weeks early and on SCBU for 17 days. I went into labour with my 4 child at 29 weeks, my waters drained for 6 days. Ihad to be transfered to a different hospital because there was no beds were available on the intensive care. I was transfered from Newcastle to Jimmy's in Leeds were I stayed for 48hrs. I was scheduled to be induced on Thursday morning due to an infection, but all of the intensive care beds had gone throught the night. I was then transfered to Leeds General where Iwas going to be induced, but the changed thier minds 5 times. It was really emotionaly and physically hard, I got very depressed I was away from my family and children and felt so isolated. They induced me on the Saturday night because Ideveloped a serious infection in my blood. my baby was born at 30 wks weighing 3lb8oz. he was healthy and a good weight, he didn't need any oxyegen. they say he was big because I had a double placenta.he fed from both bits which did him good. I had to go back to Newcastle on the Sunday, walking away from my baby and leaving him in Leeds was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, I returned to stay with him for 2 days, when I was saying good bye to him the baby in the next cot died, I was devastated. I came home and cried for 48 hrs. I got a phone called to say he was being transfered to a SCBU nearer home. I was overjoyed. He was there for 5 weeks and I was able to visit twice a day which wss great. when he came home we were all over the moon. The emotional scars are still there, I have nightmares about leaving him and about my time in Leeds.

The doctors say not to have any more as they fear I would not reach 26wks. I feel the decision has been taken out of my hands, but they know best.

My son is now 7 months, he weighs 15lb 2oz which is great, he is a joy to be with we all love him so very much. Iwould like to say what a wonderful site this is, it's great that you can share your story with other people in the same situation. Thanks.
