Paige and Lewis Sanders

Paige Sanders (34 weeks)

Lewis (brother of Cody) Sanders (25 weeks)

The following is an email from Tracy.

My daughter was born 6 weeks early weighing 4"10 and is doing great 2 1/2 years on. Sadly 81/2 months later I gave birth to twins born 15 weeks early, my son Lewis suffered a serious bleed to the brain at 2 days old and we were told that he wouldn't make it through the night. He was rushed to a hospital 120 miles away at 10 days old suffering from a perforated bowel. Again we were told that he may not survive the operation. He will be two in 3 weeks time and although he still can't sit or walk and is diagnosed with cerebral palsey, he is a very happy clever little boy who is getting better every day. Sadly his twin brother Cody, who was the "healthy" one developed a blood clot at 10 weeks old and died. Lewis spent a long 6 months in hospital and I could write all night telling you exactly what went on with the twins, (operations, separation etc.) but I just want people to know that there's always hope.

No matter how much of a nightmare you go through at the the time there is always some hope. I miss Cody with all my heart. Lewis and Paige are the most important people in the world to me and although Lewis can be very hard work with all his special needs, the feeling you get when he achieves something new makes it all worth-while.
