Thomas Yost
Thomas was born 8 weeks early on the 1st June 2002 weighing 4lb 6ozs. He spent 4 weeks in the neo natal unit. He is now home weighing 6lbs at 6 weeks old.
Thomas was born early beacause I had placenta previa. I started bleeding at 27 weeks and spent 4 days in hospital. I was allowed home because I lived 2 mins away, otherwise I would have had to spend the rest of the pregnancy in hospital. I went 4 weeks without any problems then started bleeding again at 31 weeks. I went home the day after but was admitted 4 days later. Saturday morning I woke at 4.30 and started haemorrhaging I was rushed to theatre and given a general and Thomas was born at 5.51am. After waking up from theatre I was pleased to find out he was such a good weight and breathing on his own without oxygen. I have tried to breastfeed but Thomas has trouble latching on so after 4 weeks I had enough and gave a bottle with my milk which I am still doing now. I still try everyday so hopefully one day he'll get the hang of it.
My sister Tracy has her baby Oliver Wilkinson on the special baby page. He was born last year at 28 weeks. He has just has his first birthday and he is a star you would never think to look at him that he was born early as he is a chunky little boy.
